Let me first start by saying, we are all called and purposed by God. He designed us specifically, not by mistake, but intentionally with the hope that we would satisfy the original desire for humanity to magnify and glorify Him. And in knowing this, have you ever really considered just how to live a life that is honoring God? With the multifaceted layers of life, as well as the effects of the spiritual warfare that takes place around us ( where satan is employing every attempt and every angel in his legion to distract, kill, steal and destroy) that have worked to keep us from seeing our true selves and the divinity of our very existence, it’s easy to see how we may fall short in doing what we were designed to do. Romans 11:36, in the Christian Standard Bible, says “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.” OR in other words, we are to recognize the greatness of the glory of God (The Tony Evans Study Bible, pg 1332). And then there’s the GREAT COMMISSION - to go out into the world and share the gospel of Christ with others, making disciples of all the nations (Matt 28:18-20, CSB).
Many of us have fallen victim to the lies of the enemy that say we aren’t called to “minister”, we aren’t eloquently spoken, we aren’t smart enough, wise enough, “deep” enough, we don’t speak in tongues nor can we recite the scriptures from memory, or simply have thought, it isn’t that serious or deep. But, when adopting a spiritual perspective, we ought to understand that in not taking such a call seriously, we are risking our souls. And so the question then becomes: how do you live up to the purpose in which you were designed?
It is my opinion that with the ever-growing trend of social media, many have adopted the ideology that their purpose has to be something grand or beyond our wildest imaginations. And while that may be for some, that doesn’t discount the foundational purpose in which we all were created. In the infamous words of Pastor William Murphy,
“I was created just to give You all the glory”.
May I challenge you today to dig deep into the Word of God, bypass the voices that constantly attempt to disqualify you from your purpose, and activate. While everyone may not be called to a pulpit ministry or a platform, we are, in fact, all called (2 Timothy 1:9). Then, in all that we are called to, we are also told to do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people (Colossians 3:23, CSB). This includes even the smallest of tasks, and isn't required of those only on large platforms, but all of us - mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, teachers, doctors, politicians, waste management operators, lawn maintenance, sewage operators, ministers, pastors... from the "least" glamorous job to the most glamorous job - God's position doesn't change. Every act should be executed with the highest level of excellence and you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord (3:24).
And to the one who don't believe in themselves enough, hear this: YOU WERE NOT A MISTAKE. God chose to call you forth from your mother's womb, with purpose and destiny. Actively pursue Him. Pray with specificity, declare with boldness and faith, decree out of your mouth that you are purposely designed by God - a royal priesthood. You're not what others have said about you, but are who God says you are and are to do what He has called you to do. You don't need experience, you just need a willing heart. David slayed Goliath because he was what many consider "arrogant" enough to believe he could. It wasn't an arrogance, but a confidence in the One Who called him to "go". Don't err on the side of caution. That, my friend, is still an error. Go and let the Almighty God operate through you. If you are called to be a light on your job, then be that light. If you are called to be an active, present mother, be the best mother you can be. If you are called to speak a word to others, then go forth in faith that God will give you the words to say. "Go!!!" Many of us miss the defining moment of our purposes because we continue to play it safe, live practically, and within our own confinements. Let us not repeat the mistakes of generations before, perverse and faithless. But, not only should we believe in the Power of Christ, but the Power of Christ that resides in us, leaving us completely capable, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, to do all that we have been called and created to do!
I encourage you all to rise daily and ask “God, how might I live today, that You may get the glory out of my life”? Let Him be the focus, let His glory be the goal. You were created to give Him all the glory.
